Additional Information
Sun rays are divided into three groups. Visible rays of sunlight can cause issues only in patients and sensitive individuals. Infrared (IR) rays, in high amounts and prolonged exposure, can penetrate the epidermis, causing skin burns and protein damage. Ultraviolet (UV) rays, of which there are two types—A and B—can have extensive harmful effects. UVA is the main cause of skin sensitivity resulting from drugs and chemicals that sensitize skin to light, and can seriously damage the skin by penetrating the epidermis. UVB is the primary cause of darkening, redness, sunburn, wrinkles, freckles, spots, and ultimately skin cancer. Even though it does not penetrate the epidermis, it causes the most damage and is thus known as "black light." Based on the above, it can be concluded that sunscreen cream plays a crucial role in preventing various skin conditions.
